Na ongeveer een jaartje afwezig te zijn op deze blog (de laatste publicatie was in augustus 2019!) zijn we hier dan terug met wat nieuws over het wel en wee van het DESEC-OO project in Bertoua - Kameroen!
Zoals jullie wel kunnen vermoeden heeft het COVID-19 het opstarten van het project wat vertraagd, vooral gedurende de periode maart tot en met mei 2020. Maar vanaf einde mei 2020 hebben we onze schouders terug stevig onder dit sociaal bedrijfsproject gezet en we voorzien nu om de productie op te starten in januari 2021 (normaal voorzien voor september 2020) met een voorafgaande proef/testperiode tussen september en december 2020 (normaal voorzien voor juni - augustus 2020).
Alles is dus enkele maanden opgeschoven maar dit is geen ramp, het heeft onze ideeën wat doen rijpen wat ook belangrijk is. COVID-19 is nog aanwezig in Kameroen (weliswaar minder sterk als in België) maar we proberen te "leven" en te "werken" met dit virus. Voorzichtigheid is dus het eerste principe van al onze initiatieven naar dit project toe.
In deze maand augustus zal:
- De waterleiding afgewerkt worden (de watertoren was al gebouwd in 2018):
- De oven verder opgebouwd worden (de opbouw van de oven werd gestart in juli 2020):
- De gekochte stroomgenerator naar Bertoua gebracht worden:
- En hier is de biodigestor:
Met deze elementen kan de proefperiode daadwerkelijk beginnen in september, ten laatste oktober 2020.

Een mooi project is het resultaat van wekenlang werken van het BPDY (Bureau du Projet DESEC-OO à Yaoundé) en we proberen nu aan de deur te kloppen van een mogelijke financierder van dit mooi project.
We hebben ook bijzonder aangenaam nieuws voor eventuele weldoeners van het DESEC-OO project:
Stortingen voor bedragen hoger dan 40 EUR komen in aanmerking voor een fiscaal attest. Dit attest wordt door VIA Don Bosco automatisch opgestuurd in de maand februari van het jaar volgend op de storting.
Er kan gestort worden op het volgende rekeningnummer: BE84 4358 0341 0159 met de volgende vermelding: 5043 DESEC-OO project. Opgepast, vooral het cijfer is in deze vermelding belangrijk.

Op 12 juni keurde het uitgebreide Belgische kernkabinet bijkomende
steunmaatregelen goed in het kader van de Coronacrisis, waaronder een verhoging
van 45 naar 60% van de belastingvermindering voor giften in 2020 aan erkende
instellingen alsook een verhoging van 10 naar 20% van het plafond van het
netto-belastbaar inkomen. Concreet betekent dit dat een gift van 100€ dit jaar
recht geeft tot een belastingaftrek van 60€ (in plaats van 45€).
Deze beslissing is bedoeld om NGO’s en non-profitorganisaties te helpen
hun aktiviteiten van algemeen belang verder te zetten ondanks de negatieve
impact van de Coronacrisis op hun inkomsten.
Deze maatregelen zijn geldig voor giften vanaf 1 januari 2020 tot en met
31 december 2020 aan alle erkende instellingen.
En het DESEC-OO project heeft een projectrekening bij VIA Don Bosco, een erkende Belgsiche NGO.

Après avoir été absent de ce blog pendant environ un an (la dernière publication date d'août 2019!), nous sommes de retour ici avec quelques nouvelles sur les hauts et les bas du projet DESEC-OO à Bertoua - Cameroun!
Comme vous pouvez l'imaginer, COVID-19 a retardé le démarrage du projet, en particulier pendant la période de mars à mai 2020. Mais à partir de fin mai 2020, nous avons fermement décidé de nous remettre à développer ce projet d'entreprise sociale et nous anticipons désormais démarrer la production en janvier 2021 (normalement prévue pour septembre 2020) avec une période d'essai préliminaire entre septembre et décembre 2020 (normalement prévue pour juin - août 2020).
Donc toute notre planification prévue a changé depuis plusieurs mois, mais ce n'est pas un désastre, cela a fait mûrir nos idées ce qui est également important. Le COVID-19 est toujours présent au Cameroun (bien que moins fort qu'en Belgique), mais nous essayons de «vivre» et de «travailler» avec ce virus. La prudence est donc le premier principe de toutes nos initiatives envers ce projet.

En ce mois d'août:
- Les travaux de plomberie seront terminés (le château d'eau était déjà construit en 2018);
- La construction du four sera terminée (la construction du four a commencé en juillet 2020);
- Le groupe électrogène sera apporté à Bertoua.
Avec ces éléments, "la période d'essai" peut effectivement commencer en septembre, au plus tard en octobre 2020.
Je vous tiendrai bien informé de cette période d'essai!
Durant la période COVID-19 où tout le monde restait le plus possible à la maison, nous avons également travaillé intensivement depuis nos maisons sur l'autre volet du projet DESEC-OO: la production d'engrais organiques.
Un beau projet est le fruit de semaines de travail par le BPDY (Bureau du Projet DESEC-OO à Yaoundé) et nous essayons maintenant de frapper à la porte d'un éventuel investisseur de ce beau projet.
Nous avons également de très bonnes nouvelles pour les bienfaiteurs du projet DESEC-OO:
Le 12 juin, le gouvernement belge a approuvé des mesures de soutien supplémentaires dans le contexte de la crise Corona, notamment une augmentation de 45 à 60% de la réduction d'impôt pour les dons aux institutions reconnues en 2020 ainsi qu'une augmentation de 10 à 20% du plafond du revenu net imposable. Concrètement, cela signifie qu'un don de 100 € cette année vous donne droit à une déduction fiscale de 60 € (au lieu de 45 €).
Cette décision vise à aider les ONG et les organisations à but non lucratif à poursuivre leurs activités d'intérêt public malgré l'impact négatif de la crise Corona sur leurs revenus.
Ces mesures sont valables pour les dons du 1er janvier 2020 au 31 décembre 2020 à toutes les institutions reconnues.
Et ce projet de DESEC-OO a un compte-projet chez VIA Don Bosco, une ONG (institution) belge reconnue.

After being away from this blog for about a year (last post was August 2019!), we're back here with some news on the ups and downs of the DESEC-OO project in Bertoua - Cameroon!
As you can imagine, COVID-19 delayed the start-up of the project, especially during the period from March to May 2020. But from the end of May 2020, we have firmly decided to get back to develop this social business project. We now anticipate starting production in January 2021 (normally scheduled for September 2020) with a preliminary trial period between September and December 2020 (normally scheduled for June - August 2020).
So all of our planned planning has changed for several months, but it is not a disaster, it has matured our ideas which is also important. COVID-19 is still present in Cameroon (although not as strong as in Belgium), but we are trying to “live” and “work” with this virus. Caution is therefore the first principle of all our initiatives towards this project.

In this month of August:
- The plumbing work will be completed (the water tower was already built in 2018);
- The construction of the oven will be completed (construction of the oven started in July 2020);
- The generator will be brought to Bertoua.
With these elements, the "trial period" can effectively begin in September, no later than October 2020.

A beautiful project is the result of weeks of work by the BPDY (DESEC-OO Project Office in Yaoundé) and we are now trying to knock on the door of a possible investor in this beautiful project.
We also have very good news for the benefactors of the DESEC-OO project:
On June 12, the Belgian government approved additional support measures in the context of the Corona crisis, including an increase from 45 to 60% of the tax reduction for donations to recognized institutions in 2020 as well as an increase of 10 to 20% of the net taxable income ceiling. Concretely, this means that a donation of € 100 this year entitles you to a tax deduction of € 60 (instead of € 45).
This decision aims to help NGOs and non-profit organizations to continue their public interest activities despite the negative impact of the Corona crisis on their income.
These measures are valid for donations from January 1st, 2020 to December 31st, 2020 to all recognized institutions.
And this DESEC-OO project has a project account with VIA Don Bosco, a recognized Belgian NGO (institution).
Gifts for amounts above 40 EUR are eligible for a tax certificate. This certificate is automatically sent by VIA Don Bosco in February of the year following the gift.
Payment can be made to the following account number: BE84 4358 0341 0159 with the following entry: 5043 DESEC-OO project. Attention, especially the number is important in this entry!
